Is it easier to get a job if I am overseas?

It is true that outsourcing is a game changer. Take the case of the Japanese graduate. It has been a hassle getting a decent job in Japan these days. Gone were the days when Japanese conglomerates went to university convocation days to recruit their staff. It is the reverse that works now; fresh graduates have to go knocking at their doors. Why is it so? It was reported that Japan looses an average 250,000 jobs a month. The reason was nailed at the long drawn recession and the aftermath of the financial crisis in 2008. The unemployment rate in Japan is around 4.5 percent, half of that in the US. With uncertainties hogging around big corporations, there is no need to recruit more workers, even as more have retired.

There is however jobs available for young Japanese graduate though. But it is not found in Japan! It is overseas. Places like Bangkok, Beijing, Jakarta, New Delhi and Hong Kong has become centers for jobs. You can easily get into service center jobs if you speak and write in Japanese fluently. What seems to be the reason? Well, it boils down to cost, George! Like most corporations facing the recessions, Japanese companies are finding new ways to cut cost. And they have found it in service and call centers sited in lower cost countries like India, China, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. It is much cheaper to employ workers at these call centers. Wages are at least four times cheaper than in Japan.

What would be the significance of this scenario? To be sure, cheaper is the way to go for running companies. With no overheads to worry about, and still getting the job done, no wonder every one is looking at the model. But will this only occur during bad times? It is unlikely that the situation will reverse when times of plenty returns. Once you have tasted paying out with less money, you will stick with it no matter what. Why would you want to change things if it is not broken? So the significance of outsourcing jobs is that people are finding all the reasons for doing it, even as governments are putting up barriers to it. It is a new discovery. People have stumbled unto efficiency. After computerization, the next wave is outsourcing. And it has not been only call centers only. There are now business process (BPO) and knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) to contend with. It has indeed being a game changer of sorts.

In a fast shrinking world, competition has become the main concern of chief executives all over the world. There is this great problem of having to face ever escalating overheads and the problem brought about by new staffs who can't seem to know how to do a proper job. There was computerization. There is now cloud computing. However, it is going to be outsourcing that is going to bring down cost and ups efficiency. Like it or not, there is no other way. Maybe a day will come when everything can be dished to the outsourcer! If you want to cut cost and bring about efficiency, why not get in touch with Malaysian Outsourcing and remove all those unnecessary shackles that have prevented you from achieving results. Embracing outsourcing will be the paradigm swift for SME's for the next decade and beyond. Don't hold back anymore!
